SUMMER BEAUTY

Three top beauty gurus on their go-to summer rituals…

When it comes to summer beauty, mastering that effortless post-beach glow isn’t always easy. Sun, salt and chlorine can all interfere, wreaking havoc on our hair and skincare regimes. From textured waves to beautifully bronzed skin, the perfect sun-kissed finish calls for a touch of beauty prep – so we’ve asked three top bloggers to share their rituals for the season ahead…

Beauty muse:

I adore a chic daytime vibe – Olivia Palermo and Chiara Ferragni are my make-up muses.

In the summer make-up bag:

Lip balm, face cream, lip-gloss and bronzing pearls.

Best beauty advice:

Always use SPF. Very, very important.

Morning beauty ritual:

During the summer months when my skin is tanned, I’m pretty low maintenance. Typically I’ll wash my face with a gentle cleanser, hydrate it with a light and non-oily moisturiser and add a touch of bronzer. I love eating plenty of fresh fruit during the warmer months too, so will usually start my day with a large tropical smoothie, adding coconut water for an extra hydration kick. Then before I head out the door, I’ll have a quick spritz of a fruit-based scent to put me a beautiful mood.

Evening beauty ritual:

After a long day in the sunshine I love to pamper myself with a relaxing massage – I also try to drink a lot of water to rehydrate properly. If I’m heading out for the evening I’ll use a shimmery body lotion to add a luxe glow to my skin. A key trend for this year is ‘sun stripping’, the art of applying bronzer to the parts of your face that the sun naturally hits (e.g. your cheekbones, forehead and across the nose). It’s basically bronzing, but gives a much more natural look which I love. Then before bed, I’ll wash my face very carefully using a face brush and finish off with a nourishing night serum. I always ensure I use products with hyaluronic acid and anti-ageing properties during the summer months.

Beauty muse:

Kylie Jenner – she’s so innovative with her look and I love the way she alters key beauty trends to make them her own.

In the summer make-up bag:

My beach bag is usually a little bit chaotic, but I always ensure I pack hair ties, sunglasses, a kaftan, magazines and sunscreen.

On the getting ready playlist:

Best beauty advice:

Always be gentle with your face and avoid using anything too harsh or abrasive – don’t forget your day cream! Hyaluronic acid and Manuka honey are some of the season’s key skincare ingredients!

Morning beauty ritual:

I’m very lucky because my skin turns bronze quite quickly, so typically I will wear less makeup in the summer months – but when I do I’ll just pop on some tinted moisturiser and slick of lipstick. I love a bold red lip with dewy, barefaced skin – the candy apple shade is a must-have for this season. Coloured mascaras are also in for Summer 2016, a bold trend to experiment with! I’ll try not to use a hairdryer during the summer months as our hair is under enough stress as it is. Keep your locks nourished with plenty of repairing oils.

Evening beauty ritual:

There’s no better way to prolong summer skin than slathering on a hydrating body lotion. After a holiday in the sun, I will typically upgrade to a body butter for a slightly richer finish. To keep my skin radiant throughout the season, I think it’s important to take care of yourself from the inside out – so I’ll always enjoy a nutritious meal with plenty of fresh vegetables and get an early night.

Caro of www.carodaur.com

Beauty muse:

Gigi Hadid – she is such a natural beauty.

In the summer make-up bag:

A gold tinted bronzer is my number-one summer beauty product!

On the ‘getting ready’ playlist:

I Took a Pill in Ibiza by Mike Posner

Best beauty advice:

Invest in a good concealer – it’s one of those transformational products that can revitalise your look in an instant.

Morning beauty ritual:

I have very low maintenance style during the summer so I prefer a more natural look. To suit my busy schedule I am usually very quick with my morning routine – I simply wash my face with water, put some BB cream on and I’m out the door. It’s good to give your skin a break and let it breathe by opting to use less make up.

Evening beauty ritual:

I am a big believer in not irritating my face with too many products, particularly during the summer months when the skin is more sensitive. As for haircare, although I am limited on time, keeping my hair healthy and stylish during the summer is really important to me. I always make sure that I do a nourishing mask once or twice a week – coconut oil is definitely still in for 2016!
