Les métiers d'arts

Exhibition La Vallée Village et les Métiers d’Art, discovering a tradition of savoir-faire and innovation took place from 20 September to 12 January 2014.

From 20 September 2013 to 12 January 2014, La Vallée Village showcased the tradition of Savoir-Faire and Innovation, dedicating an exhibition to three young artists from the worlds of fashion and haute couture.
Visitors discovered the work of Janaïna Milheiro, Christine Phung and Clotilde Toussaint, through a stunning exhibition that brings together videos, photos, documents and unique creations.

Janaïna Milheiro

“My approach is nurtured by various methods: embroidery and weaving, but also lace prints, patterns, featherwork… I willingly mix these techniques with unexpected materials.”
Janaïna Milheiro creates high-end weaving and embroidery for fashion and home interiors. Her collections include unique feathered silks and laces, some pieces being one-off creations.

Christine Phung

“I like revisiting traditional techniques like pleating, quilting, embroidery and lace. I try to think of ways to reinterpret them with things like highly modern graphics or unexpected colours and proportions.”

Christine’s aesthetic is one of paradoxes. Her brightly coloured, pop-inspired prints mix artisanal techniques, such as pleating and patchwork, with contemporary graphic design. Her creations make use of rare techniques and fine materials such as silk and cashmere while remaining accessible to a wide audience.

Clothilde Toussaint

“I love discovering new materials and then transforming their look and function.”

Clotilde is a milliner; she designs and creates hats, fascinators and hair accessories. Her creations are born of an intimate dialogue with materials to form a direct relationship between shape and texture.

Exhibition from 20/09/13 to 12/01/14. The Art Gallery is open everyday 13.00 – 19.00 Free entry.
